Designed and executed in a series of phases, this residence represents a long-term relationship between the couple of Ms. Klein and Mr. Tow and Varenhorst. We first replaced the cramped, dark existing kitchen with a new expanded gourmet kitchen featuring a large work island, pronounced stove/hood arrangement, furniture-grade cabinetry, and storage which extends and defines the adjacent family and breakfast rooms. In addition, Varenhorst designed a new luxury master bathroom and closet area adjacent to the existing master bedroom, and a new, shared children’s bathroom on the second floor. In the basement, a professional-quality photography darkroom and a children’s play area were added. Lastly, the porch was converted into a home office and improvements were made in the garden and landscaping.
