  • When legendary baseball star and Hawaiian native Shane Victorino (a former Boys & Girls Clubs member himself) came to the Phillies, he asked the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia how he could help.  Shown their existing facility in Philadelphia’s Nicetown neighborhood, Mr. Victorino promised a major gift towards the completion of its renovation.  The Boys and Girls Clubs of Philadelphia commissioned Varenhorst to design the complete interior renovation of the building to provide an updated indoor basketball court and gym, game room, after-school study area, the Dow Chemical computer lab, administrative offices and new mechanical systems.  The exterior maintained its historic character, but received new windows, re-pointed brick, signage, and a private playground.  Varenhorst worked closely with our client and the multitude of local and national donors to provide the kind of optimistic, supportive, and invigorating environment for which the Boys and Girls Clubs is well known.
